One Of The Most Absurd Folds Happened Last Night On The Final Table Of A World Poker Tour Main Event
Oh man, oh man, oh man. What a ridiculous hand from the WPT final table from last night. In one corner, you have tournament grinder Ian, who has the beautiful pocket kings. In the other corner, you have Joe, elite tournament poker player, and WSOP Main Event Champion, with the QT. You can watch the hand below, and it’s amazing how perfectly it worked out for Joe.
What a life! He calls the flop with the intention of bluffing the turn, which he did. But that didn’t win him the hand right there, as Ian still called. And then, the perfect river, and the worst river possible for Ian.
But making that fold, that’s downright impossible. Only two hands beat him, pocket aces and the QT. You would assume Joe would 3bet preflop with aces (though he’s so good and tricky so who knows), so Ian’s fold here is insane.
Reminds me of the WSOP Main Event hand when Kyle Bowker folded quad 7s, probably correctly.
What an impossible game.
